Someone said to me recently, 'you paint the feeling of what it is to be there' which was a great compliment because that's what I strive to do. I have been fortunate to travel extensively and connect on a visceral level with many places, each with a different 'feel'. to me, a good landscape painting should transport the viewer, even if only for a few seconds, to another place or time, to feel the sun on his face, or smell the fragrance of the land. I love the culture of the wine country, whether in northern California where I grew up, or, as in this case, Eastern Washington. When I first visited Walla Walla Valley in early June, the undulating striations of the ripening wheat fields on the hills juxtaposed against the dark green of the vineyard rows seemed a painting just waiting to happen. This paticular vista is of the Abeja Winery on Mill Creek looking over the vineyards. It is the second in a series of paintings of Walla Walla wine country. The first of the series is hanging in the Walla Walla Inns.
I work primarily in acrylic and watercolor and particularly enjoy painting subjects evoking the good life, bunches of grapes, vineyards and hills in all seasons, and homes in special places. Commissions for paintings or illustrations are eagerly accepted! My work is hung in a wide variety of places:
My Jungle Gallery, Ellensburg, WA
The Episcopal Bishop's Residence, Chicago, Ill.
The Walla Walla Inns, Walla Walla WA
The offices of Meebo Inc., Silicon Valley
As well as the private collections of:
