Artist Statement:
Hello, I am Amy Marie (Hall) Davison and I grew up in Moses Lake, Washington. I graduated in 2006 from central Washington University with a BA in Arts and my specialization was in Graphic Design. My husband, Dustin, and I have decided to make Ellensburg our home. I enjoy a variety of art forms such as painting, making prints, jewelry, cards, custom inviations, fancy cakes, photography, and wood burnings to list a few of my top choices.
Typically like to make art that reflects my current emotions, which tend to be happy, whimsical or fun, but once in a while pensive or moody. You often find things taht have influenced me, such as places, plants, or pets that have been in my life. Peacocks, koi, bamboo, daisies, frogs and butterflies are among the reoccurring themes that show up in many of the media I work in.
I like to be fairly spontaneous in my art, and like to approach it with only the faint idea or a rough sketch so that it can change and take on a life of its own as it is being created. I sometimes stay awake all night thinking of what I will make next, and sometimes even will stay up all night to finish a piece I started earlier. Mistakes are worked with , and sometimes a happy mistake occurs and then is repeated as a technique the next time. People think you are amazingly creative then, when really it is often taking a chance and being lucky. Art should ultimately be an emotional release, thought provoking or something pleasant and enjoyable by the artist, and hopefully to you the audience.
I hope you enjoy what you see!
Amy M. Davison
